The GEN24 Plus offers two backup modes: PV Point: supplies power to critical loads directly from solar when the sun is shining. Full Backup: when paired with a battery storage system and appropriate switching, it can power the entire home including heavy loads (e.g., heat pumps) during an outage. This means you’re not just reliant on the grid, or solar only when it’s sunny — the system gives you stronger resilience.
The GEN24 Plus is designed with battery connection in mind. You can integrate a battery storage system and extend usage of your solar energy into evenings/night. This boosts self-consumption and energy independence.
It features open interfaces and integrated load management to prioritise consumption (e.g., wall-box for EV, pool pump, heat pump) and manage excess solar effectively. Also supports Multi Flow technology so the system can handle AC, DC, and AC/DC storage flows.
The active cooling system of the GEN24 Plus ensures the power electronics run cooler and more reliably. The result: better performance, less maintenance and a longer service life.
Fronius ran a full life-cycle assessment of the GEN24 Plus. The inverter uses 100% recycled aluminium in its heat sinks, is designed for easy disassembly and repair, and the CO₂ pay-back time (in favourable conditions) is under 1 year to ~3.7 years. Over ~20 years it can save significant CO₂ emissions (~16,932 kg) in one scenario.
It has high shade tolerance via software (so partial shading doesn’t kill your yield). With hybrid/battery use it supports electricity, heating, cooling and e-mobility applications — making it a versatile choice for whole-home energy solutions.
The inverter receives DC electricity from solar panels or batteries, which cannot directly power household appliances.
Electronic components inside the inverter rapidly switch the DC power on and off thousands of times per second to start forming an AC-like pattern.
The inverter shapes this switching into a pure sine wave, which is the same type of AC power used in homes and safe for all appliances.
The inverter boosts and adjusts the electricity to match the home’s standard power:
230–240V
50Hz frequency
The final clean AC electricity is sent to your switchboard to run appliances.
In solar systems, it can also be exported to the grid or stored in batteries (hybrid models).

Our expert team handles everything — from design and installation to maintenance — ensuring your solar system performs at its best.
The installation begins with securing roof anchors, which act as the main support points for the solar panel mounts. Once anchors are fixed, the mounting structure is installed based on the roof type—tile, metal, or flat. These mounts form the foundation that holds the panels securely in place and maintains the correct angle for maximum sunlight exposure.
For homes in the Southern Hemisphere, such as in Australia, positioning panels toward the north ensures the best solar energy output throughout the year.
After the mounts are installed, the next step is connecting the electrical wiring. The setup can vary depending on your system design but generally involves connecting solar panels either in series or parallel.
Series connection: Positive (+) of one panel connects to the negative (-) of another, increasing voltage.
Parallel connection: Positive (+) terminals join together and negative (-) terminals join together, keeping voltage the same but increasing current.
Once the wiring is complete, the solar panels are connected to the inverter. This device converts DC power from the panels into AC power suitable for home use or grid supply.
For series wiring, the last panel’s positive terminal connects to the inverter’s positive input, and the first panel’s negative terminal connects to the inverter’s negative input.
For parallel wiring, the combined positive and negative lines are connected directly to the inverter’s respective inputs. This ensures stable and efficient power conversion for your electrical system.
After connecting the inverter, the next step is installing the solar battery. The battery’s positive terminal connects to the inverter’s positive terminal, and the negative connects to the inverter’s negative.
This allows energy storage for later use—especially useful during cloudy days, nighttime, or power outages. Solar batteries help you rely less on the grid and use more of your self-generated power, effectively lowering energy bills and providing reliable backup power.
The final step involves upgrading or configuring your electricity meter. Traditional analog meters can only measure total energy consumption, not how much solar power you export or import from the grid.
A smart meter enables accurate, real-time tracking of both solar energy production and usage. It allows you and your energy provider to measure exported energy, ensuring proper credit for the electricity you send back to the grid and optimizing your solar system’s efficiency.
