Benefits of Battery

Reliable Backup Power

A home battery provides instant, automatic power when the grid goes down, ensuring your essential appliances stay running. Whether it’s lighting, refrigeration, medical devices, or internet connectivity, a battery keeps your home operating smoothly without the noise or fuel costs of a generator.

Lower Electricity Bills

By storing excess solar energy during the day, a battery allows you to use your own clean power at night or during peak electricity pricing times. This dramatically reduces reliance on the grid and helps save money month after month, making your energy usage more efficient and cost-effective.

Maximise Solar Energy Use

Instead of sending unused solar power back to the grid for low feed-in rates, a battery captures and stores that energy for later use. This boosts your solar self-consumption, increases system payback, and provides more consistent energy availability throughout the day.

Protection from Rising Power Costs

Electricity prices continue to rise, but with a battery, you can store and use your own solar energy instead of buying expensive grid power. This gives you long-term control over your energy costs and greater financial freedom.

Greater Energy Independence

A battery system allows you to reduce dependence on the grid and rely more on your own renewable energy. With the ability to add multiple batteries, you can achieve near-complete energy independence, giving your home greater security and resilience in all weather and grid conditions.

Eco-Friendly & Sustainable

Using stored solar energy instead of grid electricity reduces carbon emissions and supports a cleaner environment. A home battery encourages greener energy habits, helping households contribute to Australia’s transition to renewable power while enjoying clean, quiet, and reliable energy.

How Battery System Works

01

Solar Panels Produce Clean Energy

During daylight, your solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. This renewable power is used to run your home and reduce grid consumption.

02

Home Uses Solar Power First

Your home automatically uses the solar energy being produced. This helps lower electricity bills and maximizes your solar system’s efficiency.

03

Extra Energy Goes Into the Battery

When your solar panels produce more electricity than your home needs, the surplus energy is sent to the battery for storage instead of going back to the grid.

04

Battery Stores and Protects the Energy

The battery safely stores this electricity, keeping it ready for use during the night, cloudy weather, or any time solar production drops.

05

Battery Powers Your Home When Needed

When the sun goes down or your energy demand increases, the battery automatically releases the stored energy to power your home. If the battery is fully drained, only then does your home draw electricity from the grid.

Solar System Installation Process

Mount Installation

The installation begins with securing roof anchors, which act as the main support points for the solar panel mounts. Once anchors are fixed, the mounting structure is installed based on the roof type—tile, metal, or flat. These mounts form the foundation that holds the panels securely in place and maintains the correct angle for maximum sunlight exposure.

For homes in the Southern Hemisphere, such as in Australia, positioning panels toward the north ensures the best solar energy output throughout the year.

Setting Up the Electrical Wirings

After the mounts are installed, the next step is connecting the electrical wiring. The setup can vary depending on your system design but generally involves connecting solar panels either in series or parallel.

  • Series connection: Positive (+) of one panel connects to the negative (-) of another, increasing voltage.

  • Parallel connection: Positive (+) terminals join together and negative (-) terminals join together, keeping voltage the same but increasing current.

Connecting Panels to the Inverter

Once the wiring is complete, the solar panels are connected to the inverter. This device converts DC power from the panels into AC power suitable for home use or grid supply.

For series wiring, the last panel’s positive terminal connects to the inverter’s positive input, and the first panel’s negative terminal connects to the inverter’s negative input.

For parallel wiring, the combined positive and negative lines are connected directly to the inverter’s respective inputs. This ensures stable and efficient power conversion for your electrical system.

Solar Battery Connection

After connecting the inverter, the next step is installing the solar battery. The battery’s positive terminal connects to the inverter’s positive terminal, and the negative connects to the inverter’s negative.

This allows energy storage for later use—especially useful during cloudy days, nighttime, or power outages. Solar batteries help you rely less on the grid and use more of your self-generated power, effectively lowering energy bills and providing reliable backup power.

Smart Meter Installation or Reconfiguration

The final step involves upgrading or configuring your electricity meter. Traditional analog meters can only measure total energy consumption, not how much solar power you export or import from the grid.

A smart meter enables accurate, real-time tracking of both solar energy production and usage. It allows you and your energy provider to measure exported energy, ensuring proper credit for the electricity you send back to the grid and optimizing your solar system’s efficiency.

Smart Insights

When it comes to solar panels, there are three tiers to consider. The tier scheme helps Australian solar customers make the right choice for their needs, ensuring they get reliable and quality products. Let’s explore the key differences between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 solar panel suppliers

Tier 1 Solar Panels

Tier 2 Solar Panels

Tier 3 Solar Panels

How to Choose the Right Tier for You

The best tier for you will depend on your individual needs and budget. If you are looking for the highest quality and most reliable solar panels, then Tier 1 is the way to go.

No matter which tier you choose, make sure to do your research and compare solar panel manufacturers before making a decision.
